In my recent dialog with MySudo support I am becoming increasingly uneasy about having this app constantly running in the background.

I asked if it would be safe to force quit the app if I need to disconnect the VPN so MySudo couldn't log me IP/Location and their reply was that it would still be running......
Is this app only good for privacy for low threat models/internet signups etc? I don't sense this is a high threat model security app....Just my semi-educated opinion/gut dealing.

d9780 The advice you received from MySudo is correct. Force quitting an app doesn't stop it from being started again. If you want to ensure that the app can't access your IP address when you disconnect from VPN, you should temporarily disable the network permission for MySudo, or even better, temporarily disable MySudo entirely.

I imagine the app needs to run in the background so that you can receive SMS and phone calls. Think about stopping the MySudo app from running like being somewhere without cell coverage, or with having your phone on airplane mode. Incoming phone calls will go straight through to voicemail, and SMS messages will be queued until you next connect to the network.

Disabling MySudo was a great idea. That's really what I intended with the idea to force quit the app. Thanks for the helpful input. I am going to be more mindful of the security issues MySudo creates.

I sorta felt like BC it was in my 'privacy app portfolio " it was safe but its logs can be easily subpoenaed by a state or government threat......

d9780 Another option is putting mysudo in a separate user profile .
When you end session it will disable the apps in that profile .
