How to factory reset (I forgot my PIN)

Essentially, I'm trying to factory reset my phone, but when I get to the "no command screen" of the Recovery Mode (from fastboot), it goes back to the original phone rather than getting me to the menu where I can factory reset it. I followed the steps posted on earlier posts in the form (https://discuss.grapheneos.org/d/3641-how-to-factory-reset), but I'm getting stuck once I get to the "no command" screen. Any comments are sincerely appreciated!

When you are at that screen, hold down the power button and press the volume up button a single time.

That will bring up the recovery mode GUI, in which you will find the option to perform a factory reset/data wipe.

Since this was my first hit when searching, here is the full procedure:

Turn off your phone
Hold Volume Down + Power
- You should now see the screen for "Fastboot mode" with a red warning triangle and some system info in the bottom left
Press Volume Down twice (or however often you need) to select Recovery Mode and press Power to confirm
- Your phone should now do what looks like the first seconds of a normal boot process (yellow triangle screen, Google logo), after that you should be on the "No command" screen with the Android mascot thingie laying down
Now hold Power and tap Volume Up as described above
- That should put you into the Recovery, with a line-based menu
Select "Wipe data/factory reset" with the Volume keys (four times Volume Down for me), press Power to select
- You should be asked "Wipe all user data? THIS CANNOT BE UNDONE!" in red
Press Volume Down to select "Factory data reset" and then Power to confirm
- After a few seconds, you should see "Data wipe complete" at the end of the log at the bottom of the screen
"Reboot system now" should already be selected in the menu, press Power to do that
Done, you can now set up your phone (once it's done booting)
