Disabling Only Phone & SMS

Not sure if this would have any benefit, but is there a way to disable the phone & SMS features and only use the carrier for internet access. Would this reduce attack surface?

I'm assuming the phone, SMS, and cellular internet all use the same antenna. Would additional software isolation be of any begins to reduce attack surface? I understand they each have their own permissions, but most apps can be disabled through the app settings. The phone and SMS cannot be disabled there.
