Enabling VoLTE on Pixel 6 Pro.

My phone stopped using VoLTE. I don't know what happened, it might have been on the carrier side of things, it just stopped making calls / texts / data alltogether. I played with the settings, poped the sim card out and put it back in, and it started working. I didn't notice it at the time, but now when I make calls it switches to H or H+. I need VoLTE because there is an area where I have LTE but no 3G apparently. Data and text works, but when I try to make calls, the dialer opens and shuts off after a few seconds.

I talked to my service provider, they said they have me set up for VoLTE on their end.

I tried to turn on VoLTE using shizuku but it is incompatible with GrapheneOS.

When I type in *#*#4636#*#* and go to "Phone Information", "VoLTE Provisioned" is unchecked and grayed out. IMS Status says I'm "Not Registered" and VoLTE is "Unavailable". In *#*#0702#*#* I set "VOLTE_ENABLED_BY_PLATFORM" to 1 but that didn't change anything.

Does anyone know what I can try next?

bulletbill22 The way to enable VoLTE is to open Settings > Network & Internet > SIMs, and enable 4G Calling.

Have you tried that?

bulletbill22 That means in your current set-up VoLTE is not available on your device. Does you mobile carrier provide VoLTE for the Pixel 6 Pro device specifically?

Some carrier troubleshooting tips are provided on the GrapheneOS website https://grapheneos.org/usage#carrier-functionality, many of which are relevant to VoLTE.

A few things to try from that link:

Reset Mobile Network settings in Settings ➔ System ➔ Reset options ➔ Reset Wi-Fi, mobile & Bluetooth and then reboot the device.
Follow your carrier's instructions for setting up APNs, this can be found in Settings ➔ Network & Internet ➔ SIMs ➔ Access Point Names
Some carriers may restrict functionality, such as VoLTE, on imported Pixel devices as they only whitelist the IMEI ranges of Pixel device SKUs which were sold locally. You can check your SKU on GrapheneOS by going to Settings ➔ About phone ➔ Model ➔ Hardware SKU and using the official Google documentation. You should check if such functionality works on the stock OS to troubleshoot.

treequell I have been using VoLTE on that phone with that carrier since the release of the Pixel 6 until a couple weeks ago. I tried resetting network settings, have a Pixel from the U.S., and got a replacement SIM from my carrier. None of those have fixed the problem. I will try resetting the APNs and see what happens.
