Can't get visual voicemail to work on TracFone/Verizon network w/ Google Dialer

The voicemails display under "Voicemail" in the Google dialer app complete with phone number, duration, and timestamp, but after attempting to load the voicemail I either get "Couldn't play voicemail", or "Unsupported message type", or a banner on the top of the screen displays saying "Couldn't update visual voicemail. Try again when your network connection improves"

I have sandboxed Google Play and Carrier Services installed with network, phone, and call logs permissions. I've tried everything I can think of including uninstalling/reinstalling each app, clearing caches, rebooting the phone, disabling VPN, and checking for updates. I tried using Tracfone's support but they're completely useless as always.

FWIW, visual voicemail worked fine with the same SIM and same number on iOS.

Are you trying to set up voicemail via Google Play Services (and apps) on a secondary profile?

If so, switch to the Owners profile, open the default Phone app, and select Voicemail then Set up a Pin.

I just recently switched carriers and had to install Google Play Services on a secondary profile in order to run the carrier's app to set up cell service. But I couldn't access voicemail or turn on Mobile data until I switched to the Owner profile and set up/enabled those features.

I was working with a physical Sim, so if you're using an Esim, I'm not sure if this would work.
