PDF file won't delete

I downloaded a PDF file from a site that does buy and sells. The PDF wouldn't open, and I cannot delete it. Shutdown and rebooted twice with no luck. All other PDFs seem fine, could download and view PDF on a different phone.

What do you see exactly? A file in the Downloads section that's 0B in size?

If you press on the Pixel model in the file manager app and navigate to "Download", do you see it there?

Thanks for the response. When I go to Files - Phone - Download, the files do appear there. I have some screen shots attached.

Jordan In those screenshots, I see the "Download" folder empty, and the "Downloads" tag containing two files, both named "22-Jun-15.pdf". What is the file size of those two files? Are they 0B, by any chance?

They do say 0 B.

As I understand this issue, the files have been deleted from you device, which is why you see that the Download folder is empty. But they still appear to remain in Downloads tag, even with a size of 0B. In effect as "ghost files". It's a known upstream bug, I believe. Thanks for the information! That makes sense to me, just have to live with it until its patched I suppose.

@Jordan Which browser did you use to download the file?

I see. You could try two things here, not sure if this works.

1) Go to Settings -> Apps -> See all apps -> 3 dots on the top right -> Show system -> Download Manager -> Storage & cache -> clear storage and clear cache. Same for Downloads. If I remember right this didn't work for some people but I guess it is worth a try. Just keep in mind that files in the Downloads folder might disappear that way so better have a backup for your files in Download folder.
2) If 1 didn't work also do the same for Vanadium - clear cache and storage and see if this helps. Please keep in mind this removes all bookmarks, saved settings, passwords, etc. in Vanadium.

If you don't mind report back if one of those did work.

I also have this problem.

I tried following @DeletedUser98's instructions as well as the other two posts on the issue (1,2), but I could not solve the problem.

In my case I have two .gif files of 0 bytes each, detectable only from the "Downloads" folder from the stock File Manager ("Files").

I will wait for the problem to resolve itself. However, if anyone has a solution I would be more than happy to try it.

If this is only visible in the stock file manager then the problem might be the file manager, perhaps.

@Jordan I had the same issue, just try to delete these files once in a while.
Mine got deleted successfully after 10 days.

Problem solved.

I was able to delete these "ghost files". I don't know if it was just chance (probably not) but I deleted these ghost files after I downloaded a new .gif file, that is with the same extension of the ghost files.
