Has there been a change to how GrapheneOS/Android's Battery Optimization and/or handles background apps?
Since the last couple (2-3 releases) of GrapheneOS releases, I've come to notice apps that I would normally use in the background without any issues, apps like NewPipe, LibreTube, AntennaPod, Threema, RethinkDNS are now being killed/Stopped. I had hope that with each GOS release/app release things would go back to normal but nothing has changed.
These apps have been granted unrestricted battery usage from day one.
It is worth nothing that in the case of NewPipe I just recently granted it unrestricted battery usage to try and fix the issue of the app being killed/stopped. Before I was able to use NewPipe in the background without issues even though battery was being optimized.
-- Before I was using NewPipe on the background to listen to music, podcast, etc without problems. Now when using NewPipe, or LibreTube for that matter, when on the background I can get anywhere from around 5-15 minutes before the apps gets killed. There are still time when NewPipe last longer before being killed.
Something else that I've come to notice is that when restarting the app to start reproducing the audio/video again, this does not start right where it was when it stopped. The audio/video always starts way earlier.
-- In the case of RethinkDNS the app seems to be working but when the permanent silent notification disappears and when I check under "Active Apps" the app is not on the list.
I've been able to get to the "Active Apps" panel to see apps like AntennaPod and LibreTube with "Stopped" on the side.
-- My phone works very smoothly. I'm not running any games nor many apps. I mainly use the phone for communcation and listening to music, podcast and watch a program or two. Pretty much the mentioned apps are the apps I mainly use other than the apps that come with GOS. I had no issues with any of these apps before but as of late these apps just keep on getting killed/stopped.
Is there anything I can try to fix this?
