I just want to reaffirm that AIUI GrapheneOS is focused on usable privacy/security, so usability is explicitly in scope.
Modifications that do not contribute positively to security/privacy are in scope when appropriate. The reason toggles exist for things like secure application spawning and the hardened memory allocator is precisely because GrapheneOS understands the context of needing applications to be usable sometimes regardless of strong reasons why they are bad for security/privacy.
I realise the context of this thread is just general usability features applicable to any OS based on AOSP. I think ProtonAOSP (based on AOSP) was looking into things like convenience features but I am unsure whether that is still active.
