Hi,
I used to carry two phones, a private one and one for work. With GrapheneOS I want to try to get rid of one. I have installed two profiles (private profile w/o play services and a second one with play services for corporate apps). I use dual sim (e-sim=private and standard-sim for business calls).
I want to be able to disconnect from work completely. Today I can turn off the work phone to achieve this. With GrapheneOS I can shut down the work profile to completely turn off corporate app activity. Problem is the sim management. When both sim cards are active, I can assign one for outgoing calls. There is no way to set this individually for each number what leads to accidentally using the “wrong number” for outgoing calls. The option to request the line prior to each call is not really a solution when calling while driving a car.
What maybe could work is to only activate one sim at time – like switching to work sim in the morning and private sim after work. Here comes the problem: I am not able to deactivate the e-sim – I guess due to not running play services in my main profile. Since I want to keep my private profile free from play services I wonder if it would be an option to simply switch work profile and private profile – so my main profile would be work with activated play services.
Are there any downsides when having play services running in the main profile?
Since completely shutting down a secondary profile is possible, how does the main profile behave? I don’t want to have any Google background processes from main profile running while using the private profile.
I guess my use case is somehow common. How did you arrange this? Any additional ideas regarding work/private stuff on one device and sim management? Or would you recommend keeping different devices instead?
Thanks for your support
