Problem: Screen very dim and takes ages to brighten

I have GOS on a Pixel 5. Since installing GOS a month or two ago, I find it's extremely hard to use outdoors in sunny conditions (or just bright cloudy ones). When i wake it with fingerprint, the screen looks totally off but it's actually just at dimmest setting (if i look close i can see this) then i have to stand and wait (sometimes 5-10 SECONDS!) for it to brighten enough to read. This is particularly troublesome when a call is coming in and i need to see who it is to know whether to answer, it can be ringing in my hand a good while before i can see who it is.

I know there are some virtualization speed settings in Dev options, but can't see anything related to how long it takes to brighten. Any ideas how to solve this?

Have you tried disabling 'automatic brightness'? If I go outside I usually put it on the highest brightness setting and it works.

The overall screen brightness is very dim on my Pixel 6 as well though. I don't know if that's because of GOS though. It's still usable under very sunny conditions but it could be better.

Thanks, that MAY be a workaround, but I am really trying to find out if there is a way to adjust the speed setting for the brighten auto-adjustment as the workaround isn't very useful to me, I am in and out a lot and I kind of need the automatic function! I might try it in the mean time though. thanks
