  • Pixel 7a - can't enable OEM Bootloader unlocking

Hi all,

I bought a new Pixel 7a in a German "Media Markt", not via carrier, bought it directly cash.
I can't enable OEM Bootloader unlocking, started it up, did initial setup, connected it to wifi, enabled developer options, and waited for two hours.
Internet connection is working fine. Did a factory reset, repeated the process, still can't enable OEM Bootloader unlocking.
I bought a Pixel 6a in the same store an didn't have any problems flashing grapheneos using the official guide.

Do you have any recommendations what I could try to do ? I bought the 7a only for the purpose to flash grapheneos.

Okay problem solved, got an security update from TD4A.221205.042.A1 to TQ2B.230505.005.A1

2lve Thanks for the report! Did the update arrive automatically, or did you manually sideload it?

It did arrive automatically after switching to a swedish VPN Server of Mullvad, didn't found the update automatically (and manually clicking "check for update") with Bulgarian Proton VPN Server

@2lve this is a different question seeing that you have both 6a/7a.

I am looking to buy a latest pixel device , i currently have an older pixel which will soon become unsupported.

How do you see 6a vs 7a and also review on pixel 7.
Budget is not an issue here,I like most of the things about 6a except for 7/7a looking a bit premium and having better camera sensors. What is your review with 6a vs 7a.

I really like the form factor of the 6a and 7a compared to the Pixel 7.
The Pixel 6a is for me an almost perfect phone except for the screen. The 60hz refresh rate makes the whole phone feel slow and laggy compared to the Pixel 7, because the animations are not displayed smooth.
The Pixel 7a doesn't have that problem because you can set the refresh rate to 90hz.
I'm not much in to photography and don't take many pictures, but the 6a never disappointed me, haven't used the 7a camera yet.
