Texting app with search functionality?

The GOS messaging app doesn't have search. Texts contain details I would like to refer back when needed. Any privacy respecting apps, ideally FOSS?

Does it worry you that QKSMS hasn't been updated since 2021?

For non-network-reliant apps with network permissions removed, I don't see an issue with using something a bit older.

For networked apps, I worry that something that old is simply not safe. Security vulnerabilities do not get patched, etc.

Granted, it's common knowledge that the SMS protocol itself is quite insecure.

But my worry is that QKSMS' lack of updates could layer even more serious app-specific issues on top of the existing problems with the SMS protocol. That could be a serious concern with QKSMS, yeah?

Any other FOSS contenders out there?

Personally, no, based on the given permissions and the way I use it. QKSMS doesn't need network permissions.
And the app was not completely abounded, the last update (pre-release) is from January 2023.
