Just have this discussion forum, make it so all posts have to be viewed by an admin before they can be posted etc

Your website gives enough guidance and you guys shouldn't be at risk

I think discussion forum and telegram is a luxury bonus.
Any other phone provider doesn't give the same level of communication as you guys.

It is definitely not okay if someone's life is being put in jeopardy for all the (good) work that they do. Let's hope that this matter will get resolved promptly and perpetrators face consequences. Keep safe.

Also if someone is attacking you online and trying to make you look bad, they'll continue to do it regardless of what you say and even if they're wrong.

You're better off just ignoring them and letting them say what they want, because they need you to counter them in order for them to pick apart what you say.

I just ignore people and it goes away pretty quick

I would bet anything that there is a lot more depth to this than just a crazy person from the internet attempting murder. GrapheneOS is far too significant in a politically divisive way -- it prevents government actors from having full access to a person's personal information, which makes it a specific threat to certain governments, such as the Canadian federal government (Daniel is Canadian and lives in Canada).

In light of this government's history of censorship, illegal monitoring, gaslighting, and denial of people's personal rights and freedoms, it wouldn't surprise me for a second if that's what this really was about.

This is an important point. Conspiracy Theories aren't needed and don't help.

There's been drama and discord for years between parties. Mobile security philosophies differ, and have become polarizing.
This stuff happens frequently in online gaming, immaturity and anonymity breeds this behavior.

Well, apparently I have lived under a rock for some time. From what I've read so far I understand that there is some ongoing (?) dispute between two or three parties (I omit their names here) over licensing issues (?) and that they have a difficult past, to say the least. I just don't understand how a legal dispute, maybe even an ideological dispute, among smart individuals ends up in this kind of situation.

Can someone please point me in the right direction in order to understand the magnitude of the underlying conflict? I mean, there are trolls everywhere on the internet but this is way beyond trolling.

Phead When these people direct hate and call someone names, including making an almost hour-long video specifically dedicated to calling them names, does it not then follow that their community will resent that person?

It doesn't take much for things to snowball from there, unfortunately, and it has led to this.

I think I know the video you're referring to. And yes, these days it appears to be rather easy to ignite people and have them taking actions without considering their outcomes. It's easy to radicalize a group of people who feel left out (in one way or another) and fuel their frustration by saying the right words. But what really baffles me is that someone takes his frustration and sees it as justification to physically harm another human being. Over a dispute of Android alternatives. I mean, seriously, I just fail to see how frustrated a member of either community has to be in order to be willing to harm another human being. I just can't see it.

In the end of the days, these forums and platforms are designed for help and suggestions.
They are usually very fast ways to get a helpful response, but in turn it allows assholes to say what they want. Therefore if you need to change stuff to read only until you get things sorted, we will understand.

I am totally happy with graphene and I believe you have enough info already on this forum as well as you're website to help people.

You guys do what ever you need to in order to keep yourself and the project safe.
