Yubikey / FIDO2 without Google Play Services

Just a quick question: Is there any chance that Yubikey / FIDO2 will get to work on GOS without Google Play Services in any foreseeable future?

EDIT: sorry without GPS it doesn't but the Twitter account said in the past that they have plans for a Keystore backed FIDO2 implementation.

It's been awhile since I've seen an update from devs, but I recall that it would require in house development since the current implementation is through play services + store (and not ASOP). While many degooglers don't like it, it expedited their ability to roll out security keys quickly and broadly.

Ideally, Google would add support in AOSP or Chromium, but that would make surveillance less convenient. I don't see Google reducing its FIDO surveillance capability after pushing passkeys so hard recently.

I believe the GOS team could add support in Vanadium, but that would depend on available resources and priority. I have no insight about either.
