Hi Guys,

I finally joined the grapheneos family, it been very easy and install every I need to replace my old phone, however I couldn't get google map to work properly, I have install all the google play service and framework, I was able to get google map to run and get my location however my location was grey out and I couldn't set any route.

Unfortunately need this because for my work I need to set some route and send it to my colleague and all of them are using google map.

any help will be hugely appreciated

    randomadmin Gmaps is a bit strange in this regard, but very easy to make it work;

    Install, from F-Droid, GPSTest: https://f-droid.org/en/packages/com.android.gpstest.osmdroid/

    KILL Gmaps, if its running. To kill it, open the task switcher by dragging finger up from bottom of home screen (or press "square" button), and drag it away.

    Then launch GPSTest and wait for a location LOCK.

    When the GPS is locked, launch GMaps, and you'll see the active location in BLUE.

    FYI: GMaps does NOT depend on google services/framework. It works ENTIRELY standalone.

      randomadmin try going outside. If it cant access the GPS it wont pickup your location.. I had a similar experience but I realized it doesn't always work inside.. on stock Google has some enhanced services that use WiFi network and such to give you better location inside..

        csis01 Thanks it work but it seem I need to be outside to pick up the gps signal

        I have try disable google services and framework, but when I open google map afterward I got a warning message saying you need google services to run google map, it seem I can disable framework and still got it to work

          randomadmin If it says that, then there is also a button that says something to the effect of ignore or skip. I promise you that it does NOT depend on either of those.

            csis01 yeah I just need to tap outside the message and make it go away, super thanks

            also sorry I would like to ask about something else and not sure should I start a new post, could we share or sync contact with different user profile, I can't seem to find is there a way to do it.

            Many thanks

              csis01 FYI: GMaps does NOT depend on google services/framework. It works ENTIRELY standalone.
