Maybe I'm missing something but it looks like the release notes link to a commit log... which is gibberish to many of us. Can someone translate what these mean?

halfemptysmile Even if there is a comment in that commit, you won't automatically get an easy explanation of every line of code. So some self research may be needed sometimes. Or even a "good" AI-chatbot with coding capabilities may help. But hey, still better than those "bug fixes and improvements" changelogs from closed source apps on google play, isn't it?

The commit message provides a lot more detail:

Add stub for RoleManager.getRoleHolders
GmsCore 26.40 queries holders of android.app.role.SUPERVISION when it builds a GetToken request. Once the server-side flags that enable this check are on, it no longer catches the SecurityException that getRoleHolders() throws without MANAGE_ROLE_HOLDERS or GET_ROLE_HOLDERS.

As a result, every network token fetch fails as soon as the cached intermediate tokens expire. Google apps then report that there is no internet connection, and the accountstate GcmTaskChimeraService crashes GmsCore.

Which has me looking like Dr. Evil in that "riight.." scene.

But anyway, something to do with Google Play Services playing nicely within it's sandbox, I guess? 🤓

0xC0DED0D0 yes, that's the message (comment) I meant - I should have provided that link, but my response was more of a general one since maybe next time the commit message perhaps won't be that extensive.
