The issue I was having with notifications clearing in secondary profiles has been somewhat fixed. It clears now when you view the conversation list instead of the actual conversation and tapping on a notification takes you to the conversation list. So, still has problems but I'll take it.

The issue I had with deleting words/fusing is 99% gone. I just had a strange bug that I couldn't reproduce every time: after deleting a bunch of characters, the cursor move left 1 character on its own.

Attached photos gets shrunk into an extremely low quality when sending messages. I believe this is unchanged since the old app. This is my only 'defeater' for shifting to using only the new app.

I updated to 16 and I seem to be getting the notifications, but I am still getting notifications of read messages as if they were new messages. Still have the fusing of words issue when backspacing and misspelled words still not underlined (not sure if that was an addressed issue).

On the new messaging app (version 16), a notification is repeatedly presented regarding the number of "more conversations with new messages". For some people, the number of conversations is very high (for my example, over 1000). What is the intended process of handling this notification when the number of conversations is high enough that manual processing of conversations is too high? I would love to satisfy this notification so that it does not recur, but I have not been able to discover a way to do so.

Thank you for the work on the Messaging app. I really appreciate the work. I am requesting the old visual layout back. I feel like an 8-year-old from the 90s, not a professional, with the pastel colors. I really like the single color and cleanness of the old app appearance. Thank you.

haveaquestion It uses the standard system theme. Why don't you change the color scheme and possibly also enable dark mode?

the old visual layout looks like it's straight out of 2010 (which is probably not far from the truth). I very much appreciate a uniform design across all apps and that needs to be on Material Expressive right now.

Has anyone experienced issues sharing links or photographs with multiple people?
I played around thinking I was forgetting how to do it.
Uninstalled update. Back to normal.
I found after update if tried add additional people the link or photo disengaged. What sm I missing.
So for will wait try later reinstall update.

I think I discovered a bug. When I receive a message, I have the option to reply in the popup. If I reply in the popup without opening the messaging app, the notification dot on the messaging app icon will remain, but when you open the messaging app, no chat will be highlighted or indicate that it is unread, however, my reply that I did in the popup will be shown (as if it was already read). The notification dot will remain on the app icon even after closing the messaging app until I actually open the chat that I originally replied to in the pop-up. In the old messaging app, I believe how it worked was when you opened the app, that chat would still be highlighted as unread, even if you had replied in the pop-up. So I think the bug is the chat not remaining highlighted after it's been replied to in a pop-up.

I hope this helps the devs. (I also hope it makes sense, if not I can try to describe it better) Also, not quite sure if I should report this as a bug on the messaging app issue tracker? It could be specific just to my phone. I am on a pixel 8a, updated to 2026100200, and messaging app version 16.

With new update I now have issue sharing pictures more than one contact. In past I could select pictures then share and selected multiple people.
Now if I add person the pictures I selected vanish.
Trird Foss messaging app. Finally installed Google messages that allow me to share multiple people.

I have the issue, that I can't copy certain text within the received message. I can only copy the whole massage. For verification codes it's important to me, that I can only copy the giving code.

Thanks I do not want to use dark theme. That is depressing. There are only so many color schemes available. Perhaps if you could add a toggle to decouple the Messaging App theme from the system pallet/theme and add a neutral layout mode? The background I use works for everything else. Thanks again. I appreciate the work others do.

How can I help to translate some english parts of app to another language (polish in my case). Now some parts are shown on in english and some are in polish, like sms app or dialer app...
