Pixel 5a - problems with T-Mobile 5G

It turns out that Google actually created a "specific" update for the 4a, 5, and 5a to handle the 5G issues they created with QPR2

(Yes, they "fixed" the random shutdowns but also "broke" 5G for T-Mo in the process with the "Global" (C1) update that Graphene is based on - then released a T-Mobile specific (A3) QPR2 to fix what they broke when they fixed the last thing they broke)

I opened issue #2044 in the issue tracker

By the way in case it's not apparent, this does not just affect T-Mobile. It affects T-Mobile, Google Fi, and any MVNO that uses the T-Mobile network. It affects pixel 4a, 5, and 5A.

Will GOS integrate T-Mobile/Google-Fi/MVNO fixes into their official releases if Google continue to release special updates for mentioned networks? Or will it release separate factory images for T-Mobile?

What's different from Global version? Is it yet another IPv6-IPv4 transition 464XLAT issue like the ones there was with VPN Lockdown?

My Pixel 4a 5G with Global GOS image seems to work correctly.

They roll in carrier specific releases into the generic releases, expect the fixes to be rolled into the April release.

I have been having weird network issues with T-Mobile on my Pixel 7 - SMS unable to send, SMS working but calls not, Data working but SMS and Calls not, lots of weird stuff.
The worst seems to have passed with functionality overall good, with occasional hiccup.

Are P7's also impacted by the T-Mo specific fix?

I truly hope that's the case. How a company as large as Google can break not only it's own phones, but also it's own phones on it's own network is beyond me.

FYI and FWIW, It's a weird fault and many won't even notice that it's occurring, but it is. You'll have "full bars" and a 5G indicator but no data.

(Then you'll get the dreaded "!")

Google Fi does not run on Google cell towers. It is an MVNO, so it is at the mercy of the actual cell tower and network providers, such as T-Mobile.

Also, I believe that even the Pixel builds have carrier alterations made to them after Google finalizes its part, hence the differences in rollout of updates between carriers.
