Finger print sensor stops working

I've got a pixel 9 pro XL with build # 2026081301 with the beta channel option for updates (it was on stable when this started however).
The fingerprint scanner will randomly stop registering a press aside from the text saying to press more firmly. If I restart the phone the fingerprint scanner completely disappears from the menus. If I restart it after that it might randomly come back (complete with saved finger prints still working) for a while before it'll stop working again. There's no reliable method to get it back. I've tried restarting, powering off the phone for several minutes at a time, and starting fast boot mode and no them gets different results. The only guarantee is if restart it enough times eventually it'll start working again.

banjosrevenge Those symptoms are consistent with a hardware failure. Perhaps the fingerprint sensor is going bad, or perhaps the cable is a little loose on the motherboard end. It might make sense to describe the symptoms to a repair shop if one is nearby.
