sketo2 Hello all, Have you tried paralino and how does it perform on graphene os? I am looking for an easy and private way to share my location with my family and this seems like a good option. Open source clients and it's a paid service. https://github.com/paralino/paralino
ErnestThornhill Paralino works perfectly fine on GrapheneOS. I used it with my brother-in-law and a friend when my friend and I went on a weekend road trip. There's a "Free plan which includes 1 group and 2 members with limited location updates. It’s perfect for testing the app and for couples who want to keep it simple and private." https://paralino.com/plans/
sketo2 Thanks for the feedback. I will use the mini plan as it fits my needs perfectly and report back about my experience.
sketo2 So far my location does not update for others. High performance mode. Unrestricted battery. All security features enabled since the application did not complain about any.
sketo2 ErnestThornhill The device is not moving enough to trigger distance based updates The above could be it. I will test and revert.
andrew I use it for my girlfriend who's on IOS and myself. Works well no complaints, on the free plan the location updates are intermittent, but the paid plan will get you close to live updates. It's a nice privacy first alternative.
DeletedUser1051 https://f-droid.org/packages/de.nulide.findmydevice can be of help if group you share with is more or less stable. It's free. If you use matrix, I think it's ElementX client allows to share live location with a room. However, I have not used it
sketo2 sketo2 Apparently it does not change your status as updated if you are in the same place. It works if you move. So, all good.
sketo2 DeletedUser1051 I do not really mind paying for this as it is justified and I support the development of the application.
DeletedUser1051 ErnestThornhill https://paralino.com/help/location-sharing/ it's interesting how can one request other's location while offline. Can't find it in their docs. Also, I couldn't find it anywhere, how one can set battery-saving mode (no gps) for location sharing/fetch. They do have it for privacy zones, but it's not mentioned explicitly there is no-GPS mode
