Fingerprint issues

Issue: After changing screen protector (same brand and lot) and reenrolling fingerprints. Fingerprints arent recognized to unlock phone or apps. Checking enrolled fingerprint always passes on the 3rd attempt even on non enrolled fingerprints. Occasionally after a freshly enrolled fingerprint itll work once then not again as well as upon a reboot fingerprint may work once or twice. Never had an issue prior to replacing screen protector. Private space fingerprint sometimes is more reliable but same issues arrise.
How should i go about further troubleshooting?

I mean it sounds like you already know what causes it, I would either change back or give up on finger print

phonenotworking that wouldnt explain though as to why it works for the 1st/ 2nd use and upon rebooting

Emmm maybe the smudge in the screen? I really doubt its a software problem but who knows, hope you find a solution.

Jandrond18 When was the screen protector applied? If not longer than 24-48 hours ago, wait. Perhaps the adhesive isn't fully 'bonded' yet.

Jandrond18 Most likely, i have a pixel 9 pro and had to change my privacy screen protector several times. I noticed the first 2ish days fingerprints not behaving consistently, even after registering fingerprints again. What did seem to work (somewhat) in that time window is making sure the finger is a little damp.

r134a i just reregistered my fingerprint and am noticing more consistency after dampening my finger, not 100% but itll take after about 3-4 attempts

You could enroll the same finger more than once to help things.

Any air bubbles or gaps between your phone and the screen protector?

Its been over 48 hrs and it hasnt really improved much, hoping it just needs time, but might be copium. Will be registering the finger multiple times

I utilize Zaggs elite glass for my Pixel 9 Pro and had to replace the screen protector the other day. The fingerprint sensor gets almost a 1/4 of the way through on calibration and then fails to read anymore fingerprints. There is also zero lcd screen damage. I've enabled "Screen Protector Mode" which I did not have to use before and still no joy. I've also tried multiple reboots and the issue still persists and there are zero bubbles on the screen protector. This has to be a bug with the latest update. Devs, where are we at on this? Thank you all for such a great OS and for the time you put into it! _Dave

Update: upon updating to version 2026080500 the fingerprint sensor works as intended

Jandrond18 It did work after the 500 update, but it stopped working again on the 501 update. I also rebooted my device and still no joy.. I also went back in and cleared the old fingerprints to add new ones after the 501 update. Still the same issue getting 1/4 of the way through the enrollment process and then it states to clean my screen. Dunno what's going on, but devs, y'all broke something. Zero bubbles on the screen as well. I've ordered another Zagg elite screen directly from Google and will report back.

I was having issues with my 8a not recognizing fingerprints, turns out there was some microscopic dust and a bit of an air gap/bubble trapped right at the bit of the screen you put your finger. So it would sometimes detect enough of my fingerprint to work, and sometimes not.

I just installed a new zagg elite screen for the second time. Zero micro dust or bubbles under the screen protector and attempting to enroll fingerprints are still failing at the 1/4 of the way through mark. This is a software issue!
