Horatio_Bunce Proton VPN is disconnecting every few minutes since last night. I have the latest build, anyone experiencing this?
alex_herrero Horatio_Bunce did you try reinstalling and changing protocols? I can't reproduce on my 7.
[deleted] Turn battery optimization off, in its VPN setting turn it to always on and block connections without VPN
Horatio_Bunce Thanks for the suggestions. Those are my typical settings which how I noticed the issue. My internet connections kept getting blocked around the time of the update, and still an issue.
Relaks No issues on my Pixel 6a, very stable connection even with default battery setting (Optimized). I suggest clearing the app storage and then reinstall the app to see if this helps. (This is the first thing Proton support will suggest to you if you reach out to them).
f13a-6c3a I dont have anything about your exact issue but I'm long time Proton user and had experienced various problems from time to time ALL of which were solved by switching to use WireGuard client - not a single disconnect or hang since I switched - simply amazing and better on the battery as well. It's a bit pain to get it going since you need to go to your Proton VPN portal and create WireGuard config files, but once done - sweet sailing
Kottonballs f13a-6c3a I've had the same issue. Early on, the Smart Protocol seemed to cause issues. Stable for me now on P7.
[deleted] f13a-6c3a My VPN app is currently the biggest battery hog. Any tips on achieving better privacy using WireGuard on its own?
Blastoidea No problems with Pixel 5. I hook up through the Netherlands. It took a while for it to learn, but it stays solid, or reconnects immediately without my having to do anything.
Horatio_Bunce Thanks all. It may be something with my home network, switched to 5g cell data and has been stable for 6 hours now.
f13a-6c3a [deleted] Well, nothing different than using the official Proton client. Wireguard client is very light without frills or fancy animations. You will need to configure all servers you wish to connect manually which is done on Proton VPN website. During creation of the config files you will have options to also enable Proton VPN acceleration and DNS filtering
Blastoidea At 55% after 1 day 15 hrs 49 min, my Proton VPN has used 1% of my Pixel 5 battery. Is is never off.
BalooRJ No issues with ProtonVPN and my Pixel 3a running GrapheneOS, I use it daily with different servers.
