Hi,
I’m experiencing an issue on GrapheneOS where all received photos appear blurry inside messaging apps until they are saved to the Gallery.
The issue occurs consistently in multiple apps, including:
This has been reproduced on two different devices: Pixel 8 and Pixel 8a, both running the latest version of GrapheneOS.
What I’ve already tried:
- Updated GrapheneOS to the latest version.
- Updated all installed apps to their latest versions.
- Verified that all required permissions (Photos/Videos, etc.) are granted.
- Restarted both devices.
- Cleared the cache of the affected apps.
Observed behavior:
- Every received photo appears blurry while viewed inside the messaging app.
- The photo remains blurry even when opened within the app.
- As soon as the photo is saved to the Gallery, it becomes perfectly sharp.
- Videos are not affected and play normally inside the messaging apps without being saved.
Additional information:
- The issue affects all received photos, not just some of them.
- The same photos display correctly after being saved to the Gallery.
- The issue does not occur on the stock Pixel OS. It only occurs on GrapheneOS.
- The problem has been reproduced on both a Pixel 8 and a Pixel 8a.
