Attempting PDF files download from Vanadium or banking apps opens share panel

I hope I'm not asking anything too basic, searching didn't seem to return anything useful.

I have this problem when trying to download PDF documents (e.g. statements) with some banking apps or using Vanadium to access online banking. When I tap on the file that I'd like to download (or I tap on the download icon), for some banks, a share panel pops up and I do not seem to be able to download my file. Until a few weeks ago I have used a convoluted workaround using Inter Profile Sharing: I was sharing the PDF file with the private space instance of Inter Profile Sharing and then downloading it with my personal space instance. With Android 17 Inter Profile Sharing can't work any more.

Do I have something wrong setup on my phone? I cannot believe that something so simple and basic doesn't work.

Thanks @Johnnyloans . When I tap on the link, I can download with no issues the PDF file (like I can do with many others).

This makes me think that the problem lies with the download function of the bank websites and their apps. To be completely clear, this doesn't happen with only one bank. I'm very surprised that I'm the first one that reports this issue, because the banks that I use are quite common and popular and downloading statements is a very standard procedure.

For someone else, I have to go through an obstacle course to get a PDF file from an auction app on an iphone.

That is strange even the website acts weird.

The default filesystem app lacks a share target. You can install a third party file app like total commander or material files, these do have a proper share target. You'll be able to just select them from a list and they will save the file to device in your chosen location.

It's a bit annoying, I'd love to see that share target added to the stock Files app.

pieroog thanks, it worked. Material files last update was 2 years ago, so I went with Total commander, that required to accept its privacy policy before doing anything 😕🤞
