Quick question: Will the default GOS apps get a ui/ux overhaul?

I know that you can replace the default graphene os apps with foss alternatives so its probably not thay big of a priority but will the default graphene os apps get material 3 expressive for consistency?

carrotStrawberry The only app that is currently been worked on is a Galley app with Material Expressive. GOS doesn't have resources to develop apps' UI / UX and design language from ground zero, so they borrow and harden existing apps. I doubt there will be any consistency in terms of looks and functionality

We will be replacing all of the default apps with a priority on important apps first.

There is no need for, only the white/blue background hurts into my eyes, it looks like Windows '95. A simple dark mode would be enough at first.

None, as I use the Fossify apps instead and "Clock" from F-Droid for the clock, because I need a "dismiss next alarm only" function. Since a time I also try ReFra gallery, looks nice and works good.
All stock apps are deactivated, where possible and from time to time I take a look if something has changed. If so, I would rather like to use the stock apps. But there is no urgency.

Kamika242 the notable ones I use is the stock Contacts app, the PDF-viewer, Vanadium and the Dialer/Telephone. Vanadium. Almost said RethinkDNS since forgot its not a GOS-app. 😉

Messaging and Gallery, both got replacements in development and already got plenty of good substitutes, and they gracefully let users disable them when don't need them.

Switched back to both stock phone and contacts apps, as they look better now, than in the beginning. The large blue top bar in contacts is annoying, but the contacts app is only needed for adding new contacts, the contacts section in "phone" looks fine.

For PDF I use the MEGA PDF viewer when I want to upload a PDF file directly to the MEGA cloud or the PDF viewer inside of Firefox, as you can select and copy text there.

RethinkDNS I tried for about 2 years on all of my devices, but it heavily drains the battery and extremely slows down the connection speed to all networks, that I first thought my devices or the router are defective. NextDNS is a good alternative for me, but surely not as good as Rethink.

Kamika242 I would say UI/UX unity doesn't matter if we had this conversation several years ago. However, I noticed that the older I get, the less my brain adapts to UI and behavior differences across apps.

Though, I do agree we need to have it built first and focus on design later.
