Support för SE-alert

SE-Alert launched July 1 as Sweden’s cell broadcast emergency messages. SE-alert is different than the EU-alert standard (one confirmed thing is different sound). However, there seems to be no confirmed info of all exact differencies in SE-alert compared to EU-alert (and more importantly if it follow EU-alert standards for message identifiers). From what I can tell Google Play services has made specific changes in June 2026 to support SE-alert and its differencies.

If SE-alert uses specific message identifiers that are not included in the EU-alert standard - will Grapehene still handle the Swedish CBs ?

I would be very surprised if Sweden developed their own standard instead of just supporting Android wireless emergency alerts, which don't require Play services and are fully supported on GrapheneOS. Norway has been broadcasting these wireless emergency alert tests for a couple of years now and they're received fine on GrapheneOS, with text-to-speech support.

This test was today 17 min ago and with "amber alert" disabled I got neither beeping nor a message.

So I'm happy. If they want to reach me they can send an sms like everyone else.

It really boggles my mind the emergency alert sound cant be deactivated. I would happily use the service if it was possible to turn it to vibrate only. I dont want other people to be able to make my phone go loud.

With the next test I'm gonna try having the messages turned on but the beeping turned off and we'll see how that goes.

It feels like your usecase should be possible by having the top switch enabled and then disabling everything else except vibration.

Which app or component in GrapheneOS would sound an alarm with no option to turn it off? I can't find any of the kind.

Ok so apparently the carrier "Telia" had problems receiving the SE-alert. Guess which carrier that I have? Telia.

So we'll see if it was a fluke that I didn't get the message at all, or if it was due to my carrier screwing up.

aqua-ghostly Got it, thank you. But, and this might be a dumb question, is the alert expected to be sent through the Emergency Alerts system component, or something from the mobile carrier, like a 'message'?

So can someone in Sweden confirm that the recently Alert test worked for them on their Graphene OS?
Ie someone in Stockholm or Gotland (where the test was perfomed) and not having Telia as a carrier (as they screwed up their settings and did not sent the test message to their subscribers) ?

Just wanna know that the unique Alert message composition that SE-Alert are using are within the EU-alert standard and are supported and working fine with Graphene.

peterbist got Tele2 and didn't receive anything here in Sthlm. Although I don't know what feature should be enabled, do I need to enable the things in Settings > Wireless emergency alerts?

What were your setting for the toggles "Allow alerts" and "Test alerts" at the time of the test?

peterbist I had them OFF, but from now going forwards I'm keeping them all ON, should something rely on any of these toggles.

peterbist I got the alert on GrapheneOS.
Tele2 in Stockholm.
Mobile in silent mode. Still made sound (as expected).
Do not remember having changed this setting to enable this but might have done at some point(?).
