Hello. İ want to swich to grephene for privicy but my frend told me that piksel 8 series has some serius hardware level problems for grephene os. Like encription. He didn't totaly explain that but is it true? He said that i should buy piksel 7 series or piksel 9 series but piksel 8 fits me perfect on my budget. İs it true and if is it true what is the problem about it. Thank you and sorry for poor english.

Your "friend" is lying to you.

The hardware of the Pixel 8 series is actually better than the earlier Pixels, and includes improvements like Memory Tagging.

I have been using GOS for close to 2 years on my Pixel 8 (plain), and I am yet to encountered any hardware related problems.

I have not tried eSIM, wireless charging or Android Auto.

However, BT (audio), NFC, WiFi, GPS, Camera (apart from Google explicitly nerf-ing the camera unless using Google's camera app), USB (tethering, file sharing) etc. worked without issues for me.

That said, I bought the phone straight from Google, so this is not some handicapped second hand Verizon floor model or whatever, so YMMV.

There's lots of incorrect information floating around. If your friend personally discovered a weakness with Pixel 8 encryption, perhaps your friend can share the evidence with you (and hopefully, confidentiality, with the GrapheneOS project). If your friend has the information from a reliable source, citing the source (e.g., with a link) would be good.

The source I will cite is the GrapheneOS project's list of recommended devices.
