Wireless Android Auto not working since A17

I have the disconnection issues like others here.

Also the docs say "Android Auto requires privileged access in order to work." Not a privileged profile (owner).

boggle right, however when I ran AA in private profile I was constantly getting prompted I think every 5-10m to Connect , it was quite buggy.

I can confirm, same issue, wireless in work profile using shelter is not working anymore. Before it used to work flawlessly in the same setup for months. current build is 2026062801

I have the same issue as everyone else after upgrading to Android 17...

New WiFi connection prompt appears, I must click connect
AA works for 1 minute then crashes
WiFi connection prompt appears again, I must click connect (again)
AA works like normal

Before: AA connected without intervention and the connection never crashed. I've attempted reinstalling AA, running it in my admin profile, removing and re-adding privileges. Nothing helps. Please fix! I love Graphene and wireless AA. Currently running AA 16.9.662034 on Graphene 2026062801.

Another case chiming in. It won't connect automatically but after some radio restarts and restarting Android Auto I can sometimes get it to pop up with the Bluetooth pairing code prompt. Afterwards it remains relatively stable, though far less stable than on Android 16.

Unlike other people I'm also not able to consistently hold a wired connection (thought sometimes it will work), but I also haven't ticked the wired permissions checkbox in AA; it might just be a case where wireless randomly works. I've never used wired until this issue started occurring.

FYI currently on 2026070501 and AA works perfectly fine on secondary profile as well after granting Wireless Android Auto permission.

No more connectivity prompts or anything.

After the 2026071101 update (Pixel 8a), wireless AA is stable once connecting, but getting that initial connection still requires force quitting AA and accepting a pairing request every time the car is started.

I'm currently traveling abroad without AA. Yesterday there was an update to 2026071101. AA always ran in the sandbox. Has the update completely solved the problem?

You might need to revoke and re-add wireless AA perms or re-add your car but it should work just fine. There's been many reports of the issue having been fixed.

I previously posted this under a different discussion but this one is more recent and on topic

Since updating to A17, I was waiting for an update to fix wireless AA constantly disconnecting, as I saw it was being worked on due to others having reported the same issue. I have since updated GOS to 2026071100 and AA to beta 17.0662234, and while it no longer disconnects after initial connection, the only way for me to connect is to wait till the wireless AA bluetooth dongle connects to my phone, then Force Stop AA, reopen, and then it connects. No auto connect behavior anymore, this is with 2 different AA dongles. Im running AA from work profile, I use trackercontrol and AA has always been excluded, I've tried deleting all vehicles from AA, deleting both bluetooth dongle devices from phone and deleting phone from the device list on the dongles, clearing storage on AA app and readding all permissions, but the same behaviour persists. Is there something I am missing, or is this new behavior the norm?

@Arielaviles @purplish9964 I have the same behaviour. I need to force stop AA and manully connect via the car every time I start the car. After that AA works just fine.

I tried to connect my car using wireless AA for the first time since the update but it straight up wouldn't connect.
Tried revoking and re-adding all the permissions but that didn't fix the issue. Also tried removing my car from the list of connected vehicles and connecting, which didn't work either.

Does that mean I also need to force-stop AA and manually connect it every time from now on?

I tried it with 2026071501 yesterday and I too still have the problem, that AA doesn't automatically connect when turning on the car. This was working flawlessly in A16 and is now a major pain point, because you have to interact with your phone this much before starting to drive

I completed a few car journeys after the current update. AA still doesn't work like before. AA currently starts after restarting the smartphone or closes and opens the sandbox automatically after about 5 minutes. There is no longer a query for the connection or a crash and restart. That's progress, but it's not normal. The developers must continue to work on this and enable AA to start immediately again! Restarting your smartphone while driving is not an option.

Are GrapheneOS software developers working on a solution?

DTB I made a comment about this earlier but it was removed for some reason. I have no idea whether the devs are working on it or not.

Just started for me in the last week or so since an update. Made a new thread, didn't realize its wide spread. Its with wifi/Bluetooth connected AA, works for 5 min then constantly reconnect.

My AA is in main profile not secondary as others have said.
