grayway2 I'm hoping the desktop mode works well enough I can purchase one of the 'lapdock' portable docks to make it easier to keep as much of my communication and daily browsing inside of a secure grapheneos install as possible. Linux is fine but I can trust GOS a lot more to resist remote and in-person exploitation.
I'm also hoping that Bluetooth gets patched to enable better control of airpods. That was theoretically supposed to be added to AOSP source with A17

adentd honestly my main problem with desktop mode right now is it only supporting resolutions up to 1080p. And the only monitor with DP Alt mode I have is 2K and it looks terrible and blurry there.

I often heard of this mysterious desktop mode thing, but never understood what it is for. Could be interesting for me too, to use my GOS Pixel like a PC, if my imagination is correct.

Kamika242 A "lapdock" is like a laptop with keyboard, mousepad, battery and screen, but is powered by an attached smartphones desktop mode.

I use a similar ugreen dock with just one HDMI port and it works great to get some light computer work done such as taking markdown notes in standard notes with a real keyboard or web browsing in vanadium on a big screen for example.

Had this already in my mind too, but was not able to find an appropriate product while quick searching the net, so I wasn't sure if something like that is really available.

Tried "lapdock" now and it really leads to results on Ama. 😁

adentd I don't think it's a hardware issue, this is a software limitation for all devices in AOSP AFAIK. I assume that now that desktop mode is getting proper support, better resolutions will quickly be made available. (I hope so at least)

Till now, whenever I happened to look at the releases page, I would seen that I was running the latest stable build of GrapheneOS. However, now, after this announcement of the super quick port to Android 17, every few days, I see a new build listed, each mentioning that it is an OTA update, but my phone does not update to any of these builds. I wonder why.

prabuddhadg Because non of the new experimental releases reach the Alpha Channel. You can see the current releases for your device in the boxes above. The experimental Version are not ready for the public.

Upgrading this release from a release not yet based on Android 17 requires using the standard over-the-air update system rather than ADB sideload. For users who only update via ADB sideload, we'll be releasing a special Android 16 QPR2 release with a backported fix for the upstream Android bug causing the issue.

Yes, you will be able to install GrapheneOS on a supported Pixel device.

Guys, just want to let you know that this was the smoothest experience of flashing custom ROM, everything worked perfectly via the web installer. I previously was using microg on lineageos. Thank you very much.
