Vanadium+ProtonVPN but ads not blocked

Hi everyone, first post here.
A quick but very important question: how can I block ads on Vanadium?

Quick summary:

Using Brave, I managed to block ads (for example, on YouTube, it was a pleasure to watch videos without 200 ads).
I am giving Vanadium a second chance, but since I use it to watch YouTube, the ads are not being blocked. As far as I understood, it has an embedded ad blocker just like Brave.
Moreover, NetShield on Proton VPN is always at zero; no trackers or ads seem to be blocked.

What am I missing?

Sardine6326 DNS ad blocking (what your VPN uses) and subresource filtering (what Vanadium uses) are not able to block YouTube advertisements because of how they are integrated. You need scriptlet injection to block ads on YouTube, which ad blockers like Brave Shields and uBlock Origin Lite support.

For most websites, the subresource filtering in Vanadium is enough to get rid of ads. The ones on YouTube are just exceptionally challenging to block.

You could use NewPipe to watch YouTube without ads.

I have had the same issue and steps. Short answer if you have gotten used to braves level of ad blocking and want to continue with it, then continue to use brave. O tried every set up recommended and honestly it's still not as good as just using brave.
So I use vanadium as my default browser, open links in private tabs, and do normal browsing in brave. Works a treat

The problem with modern Youtube is not (only) the inline ads. The sponsors are much more annoying.
So even if you managed to block inline ads with a browser like Vanadium or Brave, you can't skip them.
For a really clean experience, without waste of valuable time, you should use Flow or PipePipe apps.

Tried a lot of different YouTube alt clients, PipePipe is by far the most reliable, and no ads.

If PipePipe is down, things to try:
Update the app
Turn off device-level location permission (quick-tile is sufficient)
Use a European server through your VPN

zzz Disabling the location would do basically nothing if the app doesn't have location permission.

About month ago I had to disable global Location permission for it work, not sure why. Agreed that it doesn't make sense and shouldn't make a difference, but for some reason it really did.

Just retested, and PipePipe is working now regardless of Location toggle or VPN server location

Appreciate the skepticism, I should have double checked before posting that weird advice

There are many alternative clients if you're specifically referring to Youtube ads rather than general ads on websites. There are Youtube Patches like Morphe, or a third party client like libretube, freetube.
