I've been running GOS on a Pixel 9a for 2 months and my carrier is US Cellular. I am using an eSIM activated at one of their locations.
I've become aware that, since installing GOS, I have been receiving some but not all text messages sent to my phone. I am certain that I have missed SMS and MMS messages, and pretty sure but not certain that I have also missed RCS messages. Oddly, I have received some of each of these types of messages, and I have both missed and gotten messages from the same senders.
So, I'm struggling to find a pattern of why I'm failing to receive some messages but not others. But it' at a point that if I can't solve it, I'll have to relinquish using GOS.
I did follow this set of directions step by step (which included activating ICC) and it did not resolve my issue:
https://discuss.grapheneos.org/d/1353-using-rcs-with-google-messages-on-grapheneos/2169
The only thing I did not do there was the step involving turning airplane mode on to delete a previous version of Google Messages in order to do a "clean" install; my initial and only download of Google Messages onto this phone was via the official Google Play store.
While reading, I also noted this in the official GOS Usage Guide:
Android 12 introduced support for the GSMA TS.43 standard where provisioning for VoLTE, VoNR and Wi-Fi calling may be handled by Google Firebase. Currently it is very rare for carriers to be using Firebase to handle this. It is unlikely, but technically possible, that with such carriers you may be required to install sandboxed Google Play in order to obtain the former mentioned functionality where the carrier has not implemented fallback provisioning via SMS. Currently only US Cellular, Orange France, Cspire US, and Cellcom US are using this standard.
GrapheneOS includes bypasses for carrier restrictions on APN editing, tethering via USB, Ethernet, Bluetooth and Wi-Fi and the ability to disable 2G (only on 6th generation Pixel devices onwards) actions which would not necessarily have been possible on the stock operating system.

I will admit that I do not fully understand what this is saying or if it is even related to my issue. Is there a known issue with US Cellular customers?
What I have not tried yet: A mobile network reset.
That's
Settings > System >Reset Options > Reset Mobile Network Settings
Is this possibly helpful? And is there any downside to doing this?
Additional details:
- I am only using one (the Owner) profile.
- I came from an Android phone (no iPhones involved).
- I downloaded the Google Carrier Services App and installed it. I have noticed no change.
- I have shut the phone off for an hour at a time, hoping some sort of reset would occur but it did not impact the problem.
- I have granted phone and SMS related permissions and unrestricted battery use to Google Messages, Google Play, and Google Play Services.
- I have enabled the "Exploit Protection Compatibility Mode" with Google Play Services and Google Play Store.
If more information would be helpful, I will provide it. Thanks for any ideas, solutions, or information you can provide.
