SMSC field does not retain the number

Hello,

I dial ##4636## > Phone Info > SMSC. I fill out the field, but even after tapping on refresh or update, the system does not retain the number after I leave the menu and I still cannot send SMS's.

I tried the + and the 00 versions of the number.

Environment:
Pixel 10 Pro
Buildnumber 2026060101

Listening to AI LLMs is probably not the best idea.

SMSC:_____ is blank for every GOS user entering that menu.
To view the saved number, push refresh.
To change/save the number. Put something after SMSC and push update.

Was SMS working before on this phone?
Did you recently change apps, settings, carrier plans, SIMs, or something else around the time it stopped working?
Did you just get this phone recently? Used or new?
Are you using the default GOS texting app? Are you using RCS?

Lastly, try this:
settings > system > reset > reset mobile
Reboot phone

Back on track:

I don't recall SMS' working on this phone.
I have not changed any related apps, settings or carrier... I have probably cycled a few SIM's through the phone.
I bought it new some 6 months ago?
And yes, default GOS apps and no RCS to my knowledge.
Resetting mobile and rebooting did not do the trick.

I saw your other comments later where you read about SMSC. SMSC seemed like a random thing to check that you weren't sure of like an AI said to go do that.

hold your finger down on the texting app's icon for a few seconds > app info

Force stop
Storage and cache > Delete storage & delete cache
Set battery usage > unrestricted
Notifications > on
Finally, double check that your messaging app has the permissions it needs phone, contacts, SMS, network, notifications, and sensors too (why not) Or anything else you want to allow.

I would test these and see if any work. Report back on if any of them work, say an error, partially work, etc. (I'm sure you know but make sure to use +48 I think for poland)

Send a 1-3 words to someone (No pictures, videos, gifs, etc. Only words)
Receive 1-3 words to your number from a different phone (No pictures, videos, gifs, etc. Only words)
Send a picture to someone
Receive a picture to your number from a different phone

Have you had carrier/phone issues during the last 6 months to need a few SIMs?

This very well could be a carrier issue, I would contact your carrier and report your findings (For example if texting words works but not pictures) and have them double check that your phone number is set up fully and correctly to be able to text.
