MetroPCS/T-Mobile SIM Network not working.

Hey so I took my sim out of my old phone & put it into my pixel 7 with graphene & it's not getting signal I am unable to make a call. I went to settimgs>network & internet>sims my sim comes up & the toggle switch is on. Tapping on it I see in that sim menu...

Mobile Network

Emergency Calls only (tapping on it does nothing)
Phone number (tapping on that does nothing)
Roaming (this is on)
app data usage (this is grayed out)
Data & warning limits (tapping on it lets me set those)
VoLTE (this is on)
Preferred Network Type (set to LTE)
Carrier settings version (displays carrier info)
Carrier settings overrides (this is off everything in there is set to no overrides)
IMEI (displays it)
Wifi calling (set to call over mobile network)
carrier video calling (toggle switch is on)
Network (automatically select network is on when off choose network says no networks avaliable)
Access Point Names (inside this is MetroPCS fast.metropcs.com the circle here is enabled)
2G network protection is off
Vo5G (use 5g for voice calls is on)

How do I get my sim to work so I can call & text? I've tried restarting the phone after inserting the sim & a notifcation comes up saying SIM 1 not allowed tapping on this notification does nothing & under sims the Metro by T-mobile does have it's toggle switch on so I don't understand why Sim 1 not allowed comes up?

Have you personally witnessed this pixel 7 ever working with a sim or esim? Did you recently obtain this phone?

Is the pixel 7 carrier locked? I heard you can check the Google warranty status page to see the phone described as AT&T pixel 7 or something. The model number of your phone should also give you that info.

It is possible to have a phone that is both: carrier locked and bootloader unlockable.

I just got this Pixel 7 from a third party seller so to answer your question no. I tried looking up the model number 2A291FDH2004PB which the only thing I see is it's an unlocked model. I tried looking up the IMEI 351610585524490 which everything I saw said it's an unlocked variant. Only one amazon review somewhere I saw said this IMEI is Verizon carrier locked but I cannot find anything to back up that claim when I search by IMEI i'm only getting results saying it's an unlocked gsm phone.

Your carrier could look up your IMEI and give you another data point to get a better picture.

If the SIM works in another phone, which it sounds like it does, then the issue is likely the phone. Maybe the SIM slot is not functional?
You could reflash or sideload an OTA update. Or flash StockOS.

Maybe dialing this number will reveal something not right.

It opens a "secret" menu -- it's not a phone call.

Up to you if you de ide to contact the carrier about the SIM not working in a phone you just got. You could try getting a new SIM. You can discuss if your APN is correct in the phone. Veridy with them. settings > Network > SIMs > metro > access point names

Johnnyloans I guess I will go to the store & see because all I see in the secret menu is (Carrier:,UICC:,IMS:) There's a few pages in here i've looked through each menu I don't see anything that tells me carrier infomation.

Just wanted to let everyone know here I got it working. MetroPCS owned by T-Mobile does sim lock. So sim lock is your sim being registered to a specific mobile device so you can't just buy a new phone stick it in & expect it to work like the good ol days. Now wheb you get a new device you need to let them know so they can register the IMEI to your account this way the sim will work on that new phone.

They want to charge you for that $24.99 every time you do that. The guy in the store tried to charge me $30 I refused to pay & he told me there's a way to do it on the website but they didn't teach them how to do it so he couldn't explain to me I have to go to the website login to the account go to devices then add device & enter the IMEI number.

So I had to call MetroPCS tell them over the phone then argued to wave the fee & ratted on the employee charging $30 in the store I said whats he doing pocketing $5 the girl laughed & said probably so. So I got the sim registered to the pixel 7 & now it works. I hope this info helps everyone.

Lucario1829 Yeah I had no idea they are doing this because they are trying to eliminate anonymous phone purchasing. Back in the day you use to be able to just get a phone & a sim no id required & you just use to pay for your plan & go.

MagnusPrime i dont think they do this to prevent anonymous prepaid sims, and honestly i dont think this system would prevent those from working just fine with one phone. theyre just doing this to prevent sim swapping attacks, which are one of the main concerns with using physical as opposed to e sims. i dont think its malice.
