ifman13 The combination of Wi-Fi, Wi-Fi calling, and airplane mode really does save battery life—at least in my case
In my case aswell, while i don't specifically use that combination for that reason, i've noticed a significant longer battery life that way.
ifman13 Is there a way to set it up so that Wi-Fi and airplane mode turn on automatically when I'm at home? Without needing a third-party app
Not that i am aware of. There probably are third party apps that can perform actions based on some prerequisites.
- If location is home, then enable Airplane mode & Wi-Fi
That would probably work, but if u don't have location services enabled constantly, it won't be reliable. If u would enable location services 24/7 specifically for that reason, i'd argue that would probably be counteproductive for accomplishing the aimed goal of improving battery life.
- If connected to 'my Wi-Fi', then enable Airplane mode.
That would probably be the more efficient option, though i've noticed Wi-Fi calling is sometimes not available when Wi-Fi is already enabled before enabeling Airplane mode. I'm not sure if that would be possible with such an app, but the best sequence would probably be 'if connected to my Wi-Fi then disable Wi-Fi, enable airplane mode, enable Wi-Fi'.
I don't use such apps, i didn't research how those apps actually work, and i'm not a android developer, so i'm not sure how those checks for the perquisites are implemented. So i'm not sure how efficient such apps are from a power consumption perspective. If it needs to stay awake 24/7 in the background and do periodical checks, it might be counter productive aswell to use them.
But to return to the original question, without third party apps i believe this isn't possible.
