Looking into it a little more, I definitely underestimated the capabilities of opus. I particularly found this 2014 study of 96kbps tests interesting: https://listening-test.coresv.net/results.htm
From what I can tell, most people should indeed find 128kbps opus files to be practically transparent in most situations.
If you are using bluetooth, there is 0 way that you could tell the difference.
I sort of disagree with this statement since it's a bit too general. If you're using a particularly lossy or bad codec I agree, since it messes with the audio quality a lot. But with LDAC or aptX HD, the gap is closed a lot more.
Using an eq to your liking and nice headphones is 100x more important.

I want to mention that Android, by default, samples at 48 kHz with no way to bypass it unless you use something like USB Audio Player Pro. This will up / downsample a lot of music which makes artifacts easier to spot.
