Opinions on the Fossify series of apps?

There's a modern set of apps on F-Droid under the name Fossify. Has anyone used it and if so, what do you think about it?

thefatspacecat I've used them & they're good apps generally, but there are a few limitations with them.

Fossify Phone: Worked fine, but since the native Phone app can't be disabled, I ended up with two "Phone" apps at the same time. It was a bit asinine so I deleted Fossify Phone.
Fossify Contacts: Worked fine on it's own (and even allowed the native Contacts app to be disabled), but the issue was that certain actions on GOS expect the native Contacts app to be installed & active. When I tried to modify contact scopes for apps from the settings, I got the error message of Contacts app not found. So since I had to keep the native Contacts app active, there was no use in keeping two Contacts app at the same time, so I deleted Fossify Contacts.
Fossify File Manager: The main issue was that Fossify File Manager was barred from entering certain directories, most notably stuff under the Android folder. That made it really limited in my opinion, and with it having the same "problem" as Fossify Phone (as in the default Files app cannot be disabled), I deleted it since it was just a less useful version of the native Files app.
Fossify Calculator: While I first thought that this was a better replacement for the native Calculator app, it turned out to be just as limited. I uninstalled it & decided to use Calculator You instead.
Fossify Gallery: Nothing wrong with this one directly, but I just found Aves Gallery to be both better feeling & more suited to my needs. Switched to that one instead. (Aves is in Accrescent, too.)
Fossify Notes: Same thing as with above, nothing wrong with this one either, but I transitioned to Easy Notes (also available in Accrescent) since it was just better for me personally.

I still use Fossify Voice Recorder, Fossify Messages, and Fossify Calendar, all of which work fantastically for my needs. I can gladly recommend them as stand-ins for the default apps.

I use a lot of the Fossify apps for years now, also formerly as they were known as "Simple apps", this project was sold and Fossify is the identical successor. Mostly I like the possibility to define identical colours for all of the Fossify apps, my favourite is black/red.

Years ago I had contact to the developers because they calendar app doesn't mind leap years, a friend of mine has his birthday at 02.29 and this entry won't ever show up as a reminder, other calendar apps are automatically pushing all appointments of 02.29 to 02.28, Simple/Fossify never fixed this.
That's the only criticism for me to Fossify apps, everything else is fine.

Nevertheless I use Fossify-phone, because the standard phone app has no dark mode implemented and additionally an ugly colour scheme, the same applies to contacts, clock and other system-apps.

no use in keeping two Contacts app

I'm mainly talking to the new user, don't mean to sound condescending to you @ Myidentity isntimportant

Removing the phone icon and contacts icon from your home screen makes it feel like you only have 1 app.
I wouldn't disable or remove permissions from systems apps. It can cause issues like with contacts scopes.

I am using rcs with google messages and forgot I have the default messaging app.

Files apps, the default is extremely slow for folders with lots of files.
Almost no one needs to go into the android folder that only the default files app can get into. It holds some of an app's data.

If I were to go to the android folder on fossify, it'll tell me: this is a system folder, open it with your files app? > tap okay

Now it switched apps and I'm at the folder.

I use 10 Fossify apps and appreciate the simplicity and available custom theming. They work just fine for my needs in my minimalist phone setup. Different strokes for different folks.

Johnnyloans Removing the phone icon and contacts icon from your home screen makes it feel like you only have 1 app.

Or hide default apps you don't use like I do with µLauncher, if the feature is available with your launcher.

I like fossify contracts because I can assign groups different ring tones. My default ring tone is none so my phone doesn't ring for non-contracts. People in "My Contacts" group have one ring tone, "Family" another and wife has her own.

One problem thought: phone app have no recording button/options
