Screen lock security

Hey y'all I just installed grapheneOS on my pixel 8a and I noticed there are very limited options to unlock the screen, namely it's missing fingerpring and pattern. The options i have are None, Swipe, PIN and Password. Is it supposed to be this way or am i missing some extra component to be installed? I'm running build 2026042101.

swaggetty_yolognese1 pattern is missing from grapheneOS because it's not secure. The fingerprint should be present on device unlock and if not, your screen is not genuine and the fingerprint sensor was not reattached under the display or is malfunctioning or was simply not calibrated if the display was changed

This is normal for the Primary Unlock methods found in Settings > Security and privacy > Device unlock > Screen lock

Fingerprint unlock is a Secondary Unlock method and found in the previous menu (Settings > Security and privacy > Device unlock > Fingerprint). Perhaps you missed it?

grayway2 thanks for the clarification. Before installing graphene I did play around the stock os for a bit and the fingerprint option was there ( I didn't try it though ) so I don't understand what went wrong. The phone is supposed to be new although i bought it from ebay and i suspect it's been sitting around for a long time becuase it's an older model. At this point I'm a little puzzled on what to do next because I do not want to enter the PIN every time I unlock the phone (several times a day).

swaggetty_yolognese1 that's unfortunate as grayway2 suggested it maybe due to screen replacement or faulty hardware. eBay listings/sellers aren't always accurate

userofgos I'm afraid I don't have that option at all. My options for Device unlock are "Screen lock" and Duress password (see https://ibb.co/mVSpPwYJ) and for the Screen Unlock i have None, Swipe, PIN, Password (see https://ibb.co/4wTspqF8)

userofgos painful indeed. At this point is likely that the screen or fingerprint sensor aren't genuine or wrongly installed. I'm going to revert back to stock and stick with it and in the eventuality the fingerprint works with the stock image I will report back here. Thanks for the help anyway.

Update! I was going to flash the stock but when in fastboot i realized i forgot to unlock the OEM and i rebooted just to do that and...the fingerprint option was there! I enrolled my thumb and it works fine, I am able to unlock the phone with the fingerprint without issues. I'm not sure what was wrong before but the reboot seems to have fixed it. https://ibb.co/209CXfsP
