Galaxy watch unable to reconnect

I can successfully connect the watch the first time with the Samsung wearable app. I needed to grant the the nearby permission to play services to do that.

The problem is as soon as the watch loses the connection to the phone, I am unable to reconnect the watch in any way. When I manually reconnect through Bluetooth menu in grapheneos I get the Bluetooth pairing request with pairing number on the watch and phone. Confirming the number and afterwards watch is not connected.

I have to reset the watch to do it again. Any idea? I'm really frustrated and on the jump to factory reset to original rom.

mois just want to bump the first part of your post in case anyone has the same problem I did. Setting up the watch always stopped at around 80%, but enabling Nearby for Play Services fixed it.

Have you disallowed the near devices permission for the GFS? There's multiple issues with watches and other BT devices when you don't allow this permission

No I did not disallow the permission. As I wrote I explicitly allowed it.

I can confirm now that the watch behaves exactly the same way on a pixel 4a with original rom.
My next try is to update the watch software before the first disconnect. Will report back.

Thanks for bumping this. I struggled to set up my Galaxy Watch 6 Classic with my Pixel 8 for an hour until I re-read that I had to enable Nearby for Play Services.

Stupid me kept enabling Nearby for Play Store, but of course, it needs to be for Play Services. Leaving this here in case anyone repeats my silly mistake.

Vagabond8630 It's an old post, but it was useful to me today and may be useful to others.

As you you mentioned, my impediment was nearby devices, but for Play Services.

My symptoms were that after the initial pairing, the 'Getting ready to connect' stage would crap out after about 85%, returning me to the 'Scan for devices' screen. Knowing this, I'll now experiment further with permissions.
