Notifications delayed for most apps, battery usage already unrestricted

Hi all, I have a pixel 7 running the latest version of grapheneOS and I'm having trouble with notifications for apps being extremely delayed, sometimes not even showing at all. Some apps like the messaging app have no delay and come in as soon as messages do. But I've noticed some apps like Facebook messenger and Discord frequently are delayed and never come in unless I'm actively on my phone or just finished using it. Otherwise, notifications are frequently delayed by anywhere from 1-3 hours, and the longest delay I had was 9 hours. In some cases I'm never notified at all and I find out hours later when I'm going through the app for something else. Maybe this is just an android problem, I'm not really sure. I've never had this happen on any other phone after I've already set my battery usage to unrestricted.

Hey, same happening to me, but on Pixel 10.
@RockL79 I hope you don't mind me joining the thread with my, pretty much the same, issue.
I have tried:

Adding unlimited battery usage for Google Play services.
Re-installing apps (I read somewhere that apps are checking GP services only on a first run)
Adding unlimited battery usage for the apps themselves.

Still no change for apps such as Messenger, Proton Mail, Proton Calendar, banking app (here sometimes works instantly). I was downloading apps from Aurora Store.

@Tandara you mean adding notifications permission to GP services? Because this one I see it is disabled.

cateusz yup, in addition to everything you did you also need notification permissions for GP Services. How would gp services deliver notifications otherwise ;)?

That's a feature not a bug. I am ok with that delay.

Tandara It delivers push messages to apps which display their own notifications.

GrapheneOS thank you for correction! Forgot they are pinging the apps to deliver and not delivering themselves

Thanks all! I have done the steps once again and now it works correctly - or at least it looks like that :) it is weird because I did as you said @Tandara but now I see that GP services has unrestricted battery usage and running in the background allowed... but it does not have notifications permission. And as I said, there is no more issue with notifications. I will run it like that and if something will be wrong again, I know what to change.
