Install banking app user 2

Hello,
I’d like to install a banking app that requires Google Play Services (GPS) on User 2 of a Pixel running GrapheneOS, but a code sent via SMS is required, and this can only be read by the main user (User 1). Switching out of User 2 to read the code means I have to start all over again, which leads to the same problem: I’m stuck in a loop.
Is there a way to get round this issue?

I haven't encountered this problem, but just a couple of ideas:
1) Have you tried enabling User 2 to run in the background?
2) Have you tried enabling calls and SMS access to User 2?
3) There are SMS backup apps that can automatically sychronize your SMSs to the cloud like into an email account or nextcloud etc. That way you do not need to open the SMS app on your phone to check the code.
4) Install the sim card in a different phone while you are setting up the banking app. Obviously, that requires a second phone.

This should work:

Settings > System > Users > User 2 > (temporarily) Turn on phone calls and SMS

Or alternatively, this might work aswell:
Settings > System > Users > User 2 > (temporarily) Allow running in the background. Then switch to owner to read the SMS verification code and note it down, return to user 2 and input manually (if possible).
