Does graphene also save fragments of deleted data until overwritten?

I finally got one and I’m so excited to download everything needed.

My question is: I’ve been an iPhone user for years and I always had the latest. I stopped because iOS gives notifications to fbi now and because iPhone saves data into his encrypted files and cellebrite can extract those. They have extracted it from me. What I mean is when I make a post to reddit for example, iPhones save that data that I made a post so even if I delete it now, the iPhone still
Holds that data until overwritten. So forenics can extract the data and see everything I deleted or unsent even if it’s gone.

Does graphene OS save data like this? If I delete a photo off my phone, is there still fragments until overwritten? Does it save information like I just sent an email on the actual local device?

I’m talking about local device to be extracted by cellebrite and NOT data saved online.

Every modern device still has the data in storage until overwritten. Also, filling storage 100% full might not overwrite the data because the ssd storage device is under provisioned so some of it is reserved for operations. The reserved area isnt set in stone. The SSD chooses different spots it decides is a good place for data today.

Files can targeted to be overwritten upon deletion with one of these hard drives. Theyre too large and power hungry for a phone.

Johnnyloans thanks for your response. Then when using the duress pin and it wipes, would that be safe to say it’s gone locally?

Yes and no. It is for now because the decypher key is gone and the data is unreadable using today's tools.

If someone wants to spend thousands on finding out what's on your phone in 3, 10, 20 years. Whenever the encryption method on your phone's storage isnt good enough anymore (readable without the key) then no. We don't know when that time will be.

99.9999% of people aren't in this 2nd category even if the person in question isn't reporting $70,000 on their taxes or something.
