I'm trying to self host as well but I don't have a static IP yet so kinda behind on that sadly.
With a domain name, you can update your ip using dynamic dns self host on your server, it updates the ip for your website example.com
Either way, a low powered Intel with an iGPU is widely supported or a raspberry pi which my lag or break the SD card especially if it's not meant for high endurance.
for push notifications
Tuta and threema work great by themselves. I have a few things using sunup, unified push. I also have google for notifications like with PWAs.
I'm thinking of using my secondary one for my anonymous signal account.
When you lose the sim, you could lose access or ownership of the account. You could transfer your number but you'd need to find another phone number provider. VoIP with text support is an option.
github it says tuta from tutao(pretty sure its the official one). I press the update it downloads then it proceeds to install then a popup windows says :
"an unexpected error has occurred
Conflict [Tuta]"
I don't use obtainium but maybe where you installed it and where you're attempting to obtain updates are from 2 different sources. Theyre using 2 different signing keys.
This includes having apps in other profiles or private space. For example: tuta from the play store or fdroid in 2nd profile. owner profile, github tuta fails because 1 of that app exists somewhere on the phone.
Also, updating an app anywhere once will update it across all profiles.
I decided to go big and flat out so I bought the p10p xl
So.I'm thinking of buying a used p9a or p9 and using that as a daily with sim.
What's the point in the p10 pro XL? Can it run games or the bigger screen is an immense help?
If it's for the better camera, you'll get a far better camera by getting an entry level DSLR or mirrorless camera plus have extra money left over.
Having an expensive, or any, phone is a risk. It could be sitting on your night stand and by morning the storage device is broken and won't boot. Keep good backups.
You can get a screen protector for the p10 XL. Definitely use a case for protection.
I am probably(?) In the minority and have never gotten a screen protector. Last year is the first time I've gotta a tiny chip taken out of my p6 screen. It's barely noticeable.
I like the compartmentalization of my digital life across devices.
There could be a benefit to having 2 phones if separate profiles or private space on 1 GOS phone doesnt check your boxes.
Edit:
Sorry for the several emails you received. I didnt take your name out of the quotations.
