I am in the process of migration from iOS to GrapheneOS and am going for the following profile setup:
- Google-free Owner with apps from Accrescent and Obtainium.
- Private Space with Google Play Store & Services.
Some apps straddle both spaces, persona-wise and in terms of installation source. For example, I would like two copies of Signal for different numbers, and it is also available from both Obtainium (GitHub) and Google Play Store.
How should I be installing these apps in Private Space, push the Obtainium version from Owner or install it directly from GPS?
As of today (29-Apr-25), Signal's latest version is 8.7.3 on GitHub but 8.8.2 on Google Play Store. I have somehow ended up with the latter in the owner profile, not sure how. Obtainium now thinks 8.7.3 is the Latest version, but is unable to "update" as the Installed version is 8.8.2.
Does that mean that I can use GPS in Private Space to fetch the latest available versions of apps in Owner?
