Move the backup file to Macbook using USB-Stick and MacOS

I wonder if there is a way of using moving the GrapheneOS backup data that is stored on the USB disc to the harddrive of MacOS ?

I would prefer having the data stored on my computer which has encrypted cloud backup just in case something happens and I would lose both my phone, data and USB disc at once.

As it is now my USB Disc can not be read in my Macbook but it can be read in the Pixel run GrapheneOS.

Anyone have any ideas on how to copy the structure and files from the USB-disc to the harddrive of my macbook so I can make a complete backup of it too?

JayJay I'm not sure about compatibility of USB hard drives and whether you'll be able to get them working on both GrapheneOS and MacOS. I never tried, somebody else might know more about that.

Regarding your backup data, are you using Seedvault? You could auto-backup your Seedvault backup locally on your GrapheneOS phone. Then upload to your cloud storage from your phone, or you could use syncthing to sync the backup to your Mac, and upload the cloud storage from there.

JayJay check the formatting on your USB drive. MacOS cannot read/write to all file formats. Try reformatting your USB drive to exFat. MacOS can read and write to this format, which also plays nice with Windows and Linux.

You will have to recopy your backup files to the USB drive after it is reformatted, but this should do the trick.

I was using GrapheneOS/Androids own formatting guide. Do you mean I should reformat using MacOS and then use this to insert inside my phone and it will be read all fine?

Has anyone tested this and can confirm its working?

I have an exFAT formatted drive that I use to move stuff between my MacBook Pro and phone. Works fine for me.

JayJay yes, that's how I would do it...reformat the USB drive to exFat on MacOS then go about your data transfers. I have not used a USB with my GrapheneOS device yet, but it looks like unwat confirmed that it is working. As a general rule, I default to exFat formatted drives any time I am passing data back and forth with MacOS and Windows or Linux.

It worked with formatting it as exFat in MacOS first and make the backups later.

So, the
.SeedVaultAndroidBackup folder can now be moved to the Macbook and stored there.

To make a backup of the second profile, one must now move the files to MacBook, clear the USB-Stick again and take another backup of the second profile if I am not mistaken and for no conflicts to happen?
As otherwise how would restoring it know which of the backups is the one for Main profile or second profile?
