Noob to GOS - Suggestions on carrier and sequence of install

Hello, looking for some guidance. I have a new pixel 9 pro and would like to install GOS and use it as my everyday phone:

Should I setup the new carrier service before or after installing GOS? Maybe it doesn’t make a difference?
Is there a general consensus on which carrier to use? Are they all about the same and just as bad so it doesn’t matter? I’m thinking of the majors Verizon, ATT, T-Mobile, etc

After. Installing GOS wipes the device - if you do it before you will just have to do it again.
You could search the forum for fuller discussion, but consensus seems to be that carriers are all about the same. If you have a high threat model you can consider something like cape or jmp, but most users don't consider it necessary and the value is often contested.

Rgvstu Regarding carriers, they are not all the same regarding privacy and security. If you live in the US, consider Cape. Spend some time on their website, read their features, privacy policy and FAQ sections. No other US carrier comes close and their support is quite good. That said, NO carrier meets what we, as privacy advocates, would like to see, not even close really, but Cape seems to do everything they can to improve upon all other carriers and you can grab service with a pre-paid card.
