Hi everyone,
I'm Planning to migrate my Pixel 10 Pro from stock to GrapheneOS. I've read the usage guide, features page, the community compatibility table, and privsec.dev. I know the standard tradeoffs. I'll install sandboxed Play Services in the owner profile.
Context: CS student in France, backend dev intern, privacy-oriented FOSS profile, Linux daily driver, building an open-source Android health app on the side.
5 questions where docs stop short:
- Pro Res Zoom (100x) — real output quality?
The compatibility table marks it ✅, but I want to confirm in practice. Does the diffusion model actually trigger, or is there silent fallback? Is the model bundled with Pixel Camera, or dependent on AICore / system-level Google ML? Any before/after samples at 30x/60x/100x on GrapheneOS vs stock would be hugely appreciated. This is my main decision driver.
- Pixel 10 Pro battery life on GrapheneOS vs stock
Concrete numbers from 10 Pro users with 1+ month of daily use? Specifically standby drain with sandboxed GMS + FCM notifications (WhatsApp, Signal, Discord, 2FA). Better, worse, or equivalent to stock?
- Native Android dev as daily driver
Anyone developing Kotlin + Jetpack Compose on GrapheneOS as primary device? Gotchas with ADB from Linux (EndeavourOS), Android Studio profiling, Play Console internal testing track, Google Sign-In via OAuth web flow (not SDK), and FCM debugging? I'd rather hear about friction upfront than discover mid-sprint.
- Health Connect API and third-party health apps
My app reads from Health Connect only — I don't pair with wearables directly. Users sync via Garmin Connect / Samsung Health / Oura / Fitbit, and I read from Health Connect.
Does Health Connect itself work reliably on GrapheneOS with sandboxed Play Services?
Do Garmin Connect, Samsung Health, Oura, Fitbit, Whoop actually write to Health Connect on GrapheneOS as they do on stock?
Any known permission or sync issues?
- Pixel 10 Pro stability in April 2026
Only 3 months of community track record. Any hardware quirks (EU cellular bands, GNSS, sensors)? Under-display fingerprint reliability vs stock? Secure Face Unlock (returned February 2026) fully working with banking apps and password managers?
Already know I'll lose and accept: Gemini system integration, Google Pay NFC, Call Screen, Circle to Search, Magic Cue, Pixel Screenshots/Studio, Personal Safety, Satellite SOS, Now Playing, Video Boost, Magic Editor advanced, Google One VPN/backup. No need to re-explain.
I'm not looking to be convinced — just real-world confirmation on the gaps between "works" in the table and "works well enough for daily pro + personal use" in 2026. I'll edit the post as answers come in to help future users searching this.
Thanks.
