Is Pixel 10 pro as good as iPhone 16 pro performance wise?

I wowed when I had the chance to use someone's iPhone 16 pro for bit. Coming from Pixel 8, i was very impressed by how fast apps loaded, and just the overall smoothness.

My question is, when it comes to performance, is Pixel 10 pro as good as the apple phone that came out the same year? I am thinking about getting the 10 pro for the improved performance.

filastinhurra honestly, no. Not when it comes to demanding tasks. Pixels are good enough for the average daily use, but once benchmarking starts they lag behind in many areas, to be fair they're not designed to excel at raw performance.

The 10 and 10 pro have the same CPU and gpu. Apple makes the best mobile processor. Google makes slightly above average.

I don't know what people are doing with their phones that they need so much computing speed. Gaming? That's not what a smartphone is mainly made for. Pixels might be weaker in performance than others, but I feel no difference in daily usage compared to my Oppo Reno2 which I used for 6 years before, everything is smooth and fast, even when I don't use high resolution and/or 120Hz refresh rate.
I went to Pixel with GrapheneOS because of Googles plan to make Android a closed environment like the bitten Apple crap and I won't be told what to do, besides, I don't see why I should have to hand over all my personal data to a US company so that I can use a smartphone in an accessible and sensitive way. The market is ruled by only two big players, Apple and Google.
It's not about if an IPhone is faster than a Pixel, it's about a free operating system with highest possible data protection and security and here is Pixel+GrapheneOS excellent. The Pixel might not be fast like others and is definitely overpriced, but it does a very good job for this case, thanx to the GrapheneOS developers!
For me is my Pixel 10 Pro XL better than every IPhone and I'm definitely not a fanboy of Google and it's devices.

If you want a fast, snappy phone, the new motorola sometime in 2027 will have one of the best processors out there from qualcomm. These same processors are use in other high-end phones like the Samsung galaxy s26 ultra. (Note: Qualcomm makes low and mid-tier processors too)

Qualcomm, i believe, currently designs the 4, 7, and 8 series SoCs for phones with each step up having more compute.

Samsung's brand new Exynos 1680 inside of the A57 is described as mid tier (source) It's a similar price to a pixel 10.

Qualcomm's snapdragon 7s gen 4 is described as unparalleled performance. (source)
That's not too definitive so I looked up the "7 gen 3" which is "premium performance" but honestly I think it's mid. (source)

The pixel 10 beats the afformentioned premium and mid tier according to these benchmarks (source)
but it loses to the Samsung S25 FE

I can see how you thought I meant google makes phones that are faster than most manufacturers.

I was trying to say that google is generally better than mid tier and apple has the crown.

My Pixel 9 Pro fold benchmarks better than my Pixel 10 Pro xl.
With the 10 Pro xl I can't even type properly, every keystroke is delayed. Even scrolling mail stutters. I did not have these problems with the Pixel 8 Pro or the 9 Pro fold.
The modem sucks a lot more than the older Pixels as well.

And no, it's not just my phone, I literally bought a second 10 Pro xl just to make sure of that. I sold the first and will probably sell the second as well and stick to the fold until the GOS motos come out.

So NO, The 10 series definitely is far worse than the iPhone 16 if you look at performance

My recommendation: Avoid the 10 Series. If you need a phone right now, get a 9 series Pixel, else just wait for the motos

Have you tried another keyboard? I prefer (and love) Heliboard from F-Droid, highly customisable with good suggestions and a downloadable swype library, absolutely no problems while typing.

Kamika242 Oh yes I have. It is the phone, not the keyboard. The problem even exists on stock.
This is just an experimental phone release, no more. Maybe Android 17 will make things better, but I'm not sure I'm gonna wait for that

You came from a six year old midrange phone. Of course the 10 pro will be crazy good compared to that. But coming from the 9 pro fold, this is A LOT worse. It just feels experimental to me. Not as bad as the tensor g1 generation was, but still

I also had no problems with this 6 years old phone, no lags, no anything else worse and I would have kept this phone for longer, if there wouldn't be these plans of Google. So the phone was very good for me and the 10 Pro XL feels like the same to me, also very good.
You may think that I'm an insensitive guy which doesn't mind about lags or stuttering, but no, for example, I'm very sensitive to even the slightest stutter in films that are played back at the wrong refresh rate.
I think, you had bad luck with your two phones and I think your typing problem isn't one of stock Android or GrapheneOS, because I don't have this problem and I didn't read anywhere else about a problem like this. I hope you quickly will find a solution to solve the problem.

By the way, in the beginning, right after installing GrapheneOS, I had a huge battery consumption problem, but a factory reset completely fixed this for me. Have you just tried to make a factory reset?

Ah, really, fuck this. I'll try it again with android 17, if that doesn't make it better, I'll be on my fold until the motos come out.

I still would not recommend the 10 series, at all. If I'm really just "unlucky" after trying two 10 pro xl, the chance is just too high of getting a "faulty" device then.

I've had my Pixel 10 pro for a couple of weeks and it doesn't seem any quicker than my 8Pro, which in turn was not much quicker than my iPhone 14 pro. The battery life of both is better than the 14 pro (but it is pretty old) and the iPhone gets way hotter than both of the Pixels, but again, could be age. I've got no idea about the 16 Pro, but Pixels aren't in the same league as iPhones or flagship Samsungs when it comes to raw power. My 10 Pro was half the price of the latest iPhone though, and iPhones won't run GOS :D

The pixel 10/Pro seems to me like a great midrange phone speedwise, but I paid about the same as a 10a so I don't mind that. Build quality is nice IMO.

My friend has a 17 Pro and gaming and video/editing on it is great, my Pixel doesn't come close. Day to day task though are fine. YMMV.

Apples phone are a cut above the rest in raw performance that’s true. But a good deal of the problem/solution is that Apple controls every aspect of the os and the user experience, including forbidding most customisation, except for pseudo customisations. So that results in an Apple controlled launcher, web technology, keyboard etc. This is where people see a performance difference. I would wager that a massive part of their internal view is to make it appear fast and fluid (snappy, as they constantly call it).

They’re definitely faster - but the key is they feel faster and there is nothing a user can do to make that any worse unlike on android where you have the full ability to ruin the user experience for yourself.
