Rabobank app no longer working on GrapheneOS

I noticed today the Rabobank app stopped working. I saw a response from April 8th in the app store reviews saying GrapheneOS doesn't meet their security requirements.

Thank you for your review. The Rabo App currently does not work on GrapheneOS because it does not meet our security requirements. To protect our customers and their data, we only support operating systems that comply with our security standards.

For now I can manage with the web version, but I'm considering switching banks.

For those using other Dutch bank apps ABN AMRO, ING etc, are yours still working on GrapheneOS?

As a test, I installed the app via aurora store with Pixel 9 set in the spoof manager. The app does start this way, however, I'm not sure I'd trust using a banking app installed through aurora. Any thoughts on that?

ABN AMRO app works fine (even without Google Play Services).

I currently have Rabobank set up in Vanadium inside Private Space, as I still want to use Vanadium on my main profile and be able to access my bank when needed. Personally I don't really trust Aurora Store as it's know to have security issues (which is obviously quite an important thing for a banking application): 1 2

I didn't try any of those options.

When I attempted to open the app, a message popped up saying there was an update and I needed to install it to continue using the app. In the app store, there was an asterisk next to the app saying "device not supported."

After uninstalling it, the app no longer appears in the play store at all, it's only visible and installable through aurora.

Perhaps in that case getting the app from Aurora might be your best bet. You can use AppVerifier for verification.

I also switched bank, i was also with Rabobank. Now i use bunq in private space and works fine.

That's why web banking is the way. We can't win this war with countermeasuring regular apps.

Would be great if that was an alternative. But in my experience, you would still need another app for login/transaction verification - PhotoTAN etc. because of legally required 2FA.

I know, mine still does for example. But it always sounds like there are "still" supporting those devices but eventually getting rid of them because it's more convenient for the banks. It feels like they offer it only for the elderly people who won't do banking on a small screen. And who knows how long those will be around.

hellodolly I suspect that if lots of people keep requesting them then banks will issue them for longer. I realize that might sound hopeless... but suddenly people are once again pressing vinyl records and people are buying them, plus turntables.
