Settings > Accessibility > Colour and motion > Reduce blur effects

This is the closest analog already in place, but only without battery saver mode being active.

I think there is a misunderstanding here, just because you posted on this forum, doesn't mean you have opened a "ticket" for said feature.

No amount of money would change the fact that this is NOT how GrapheneOS operates. GrapheneOS is a Non-profit organisation that receives donations with No-Strings-Attached.

GrapheneOS is hardened OS based on AOSP (Android Open Source Project) focused on security and privacy. I guess that answers your question re. the feature priorities, especially on the ones outside the scope above.

I'm sorry to disappoint you, but integrating Liquid glass or any other major UI changes is way beyond the scope of the project. It would simply take too much work, without providing any reasonable and meaningful benefit to the average grapheneOS user. This OS is primarily focused on making a secure and private OS with as little compromises as possible and UI changes are often not the focus of the project.

GrapheneOS is not designed to be outside the law by planning terrorist attacks. Normal users have the right to have the same interface as everyone else: Liquid Glass. Everyone could choose whether to enable it or not in the settings :)

I think the team is already pretty busy working on security and privacy (including raising funds for security and privacy). Perhaps people who think a "liquid glass" UI is a great idea could raise the funds? If a pile of money were raised and the GrapheneOS project didn't want to accept it for development of a new UI skin, then the money could be used to run a fork of GrapheneOS with that skin.

With all due respect, if the developers responded personally to every suggestion (even just every suggestion about potential UI features) they would get a lot less development done on security and privacy (and supporting new devices). So, while it's your choice if you wish to wait for an official response, it's possible that the wait might be a long one.

It's not just the initial development of the feature and then they're done. AOSP gets altered and updated. The team would have to forever adjust the code for changes in AOSP to make the liquid glass change/patch work in AOSP.

Alternatively, if we try to upload our changes into AOSP, a maintainer could reply: "No thanks."

I would like to have a My Little Pony themed interface. Every time I unlock my phone, I want a pony to fart a rainbow and a voice to say "Welcome, Starglider." There could be a toggle for this, I guess, so people not named "Starglider" could turn it off.

I would also like the background on all GOS devices to show the starfield visible from my home at night. This also should have a toggle for users who don't live in my region.

I would like these features implemented by the end of April.

I am not technical, so I will not be contributing any pull requests.

@a60a01694ed8969651364ae2dcdb64 as others have said this is way outside the scope of GrapheneOS. We're still waiting for much more basic features and it's unclear if they will ever be implemented. The UI is something that the devs will not touch. No amount of donations will get what you want (but please donate anyway).

If you want the feature that much, you'll have to get AOSP on board, so start emailing Google...

As a side note, Liquid Glass was terribly hard to implement even for Apple. If you've used an iOS device with it you can see that there still are rough edges and it's also an accessibility nightmare. Android already recently went through a design refresh (Material Design 3 Expressive) and I doubt anything will change for the next few years. Android was built on entirely different principles and there are thousands of apps that haven't yet upgraded to MD3 at all. Samsung is doing something different which only affects the system components and isn't very similar to Liquid Glass either. Also keep in mind that especially Pixels do not have the hardware to process all the visual effects required. iPhones have desktop-class processors and GPUs and have processing power to spare. Your budget Pixel does not.
