Play Store in private space only: can it manage apps outside it?

Hi everyone,

This may have been asked before, but I would like to make sure.

Is it possible to keep the Play Store only in Private Space, install all apps that depend on Google Play services there, and at the same time use that same Play Store to install and update apps in the regular space?

My goal is to keep the Play Store inside Private Space only, and prevent it from accessing or using any further data from apps in the regular space, apart from what is strictly needed for installs or updates.

Has anyone set this up this way, or knows exactly what is and is not possible here?

It is not possible to use the Private Space Play Store to install apps in Owner, however it is possible to use it to update apps across all profiles (Owner, and secondary user profiles).

Edit: yes, like @userofgos said, installed apps can be updated regardless from whichever profile/Private space.

Just to make sure I understand correctly: there is no solid or safe workaround to install apps in Owner while keeping Play Store only inside Private Space?

For example, would using a different app store or something like APKMirror be considered a safe and reliable alternative for installing apps in Owner, or is that generally not recommended for this use case?

FelixVE I'm not recommending this at all, but a few apps I've installed using Sandboxed Google Play Store, actually is updateable by Obtainium and this didn't break the 'SourceStamp', so Play Store is still 'affirmative' of them. I have observed this for just a few apps, and none of them have been banking etc.

No. It would even be better to extract the APK:s from PS, transfer and install in Owner, but I think this would be rejected by the OS.

Both would likely break SourceStamp, and some typical Play Store apps will refuse functioning.
